Privacy Policy

• Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture.
• Profile information you provide. Contractors add business details (name, address, phone, email, hours, service areas, licenses, bio) and portfolio photos and videos. Homeowners may add a display name and location.
• Content you create. Reviews, messages, marketplace listings, project requests, group posts, and any photos you upload.
• Location. A city or address you enter to search, or — only if you choose “use my location” — your device’s approximate coordinates, which we send to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service to convert into a place name.
• Usage data. Basic, aggregated analytics about page visits (via Vercel Analytics). Standard server logs (IP address, browser type) are kept briefly for security and debugging.
• Push notifications. If you turn on browser notifications, we store the subscription your browser generates so we can send them.

• Operate the service — show contractor profiles and reviews, deliver messages, run search.
• Review contractor and marketplace submissions before they go public.
• Send notifications you’ve asked for (new messages, replies, listing decisions).
• Protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats.
• Understand overall usage so we can improve Home811.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Home811 is a public directory. Approved contractor profiles, their portfolio media, and the reviews left about them are visible to anyone. Reviews show the reviewer’s display name and photo. Messages are visible only to the people in the conversation and, for support threads, our team.

We rely on a small number of vendors to run Home811. They process data only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase — database and authentication.
• Google Cloud Storage — hosting uploaded photos and videos.
• Vercel — application hosting and analytics.
• Google — sign-in.
• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — turning locations into place names.

Contractor project pages may embed videos from YouTube or TikTok. When an embedded video loads, that provider may set its own cookies and receive your IP address, subject to its own privacy policy.

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and a small preference cookie to remember your last search. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and personal data by contacting us at the address below; we’ll remove it within a reasonable period, except where we’re required to retain something (for example, to resolve disputes or meet a legal obligation). Reviews you’ve written may be retained in de-identified form.

• Edit or remove most profile information from your dashboard at any time.
• Turn browser notifications on or off in Settings.
• Request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing us.

Home811 is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above, and for significant changes we’ll provide a more prominent notice.
